Samsung put this Golden phone on the market exclusively for the China Olympics 2008.

Eight centimetres 575-carat pearl will be sold in the following days for approximately $8 / €6 million. At least 400 people from all over the world are expected to attend the auction in Abu Dhabi.

The luxury good theory suspects that the rich person’s behavior is somehow sick and explains mindless spending with theories like positional goods, conspicuous consumption etc. We just think this is all crap! It just feels great to have enough money to spend it on luxury items. Big spenders are not necessarily the happiest people on earth but they sure run the economy and create many smiles.
