Meet Lord. In this video you can see our Cavalier King Charles Spaniel puppy who has fallen asleep in the laundry room.

Lord is now 3 months old, he’s a “tricolor” and we love him so much. I think this breed is just a perfect dog for everyone who needs a clever, small and cheerful home companion. Some would say this is a luxury breed. And I must agree. It’s not one of the cheapest dogs around and the breed was actually raised by and for the British royalty.

Our Lord likes small children, old people, men, women, cats, dogs, turtles … he is actually curious just about every moving thing he meets. Which can be a bit dangerous since he’s never afraid and immediately wants to play with big guys like huge Bernese Mountain dogs, even cows … He’s so small he could get crushed in a second.

He’s always seeking for some attention but is never annoying like so many other small dogs. Lord is never nagging! And he’s growling or barking only sometimes for a second or two! Which is a great thing for our neighbors.

He needs to be close to his human friend. And I mean really close … Right now he’s sleeping next to my foot under the office table. It will be actually extremely hard not to spoil him. He would love to sleep in our bed, watch tv with us on the couch. But we try to limit this cuddling behaviour since the Cavaliers tend to develop separation anxiety.

Cavalier hairstyle is way too cute!

I love his character! And I’m really glad he is a really smart dog. But when I watch the pictures of the grown-up Cavalier King Charles Spaniels I must say I really don’t like their long hairstyle. Some are really really too hairy. This was actually the only drawback when choosing the breed. But I quickly realized that’s not the case with all Cavaliers. And you can always take your Cavalier to a dog hairdresser.

Cuteness is actually the only thing I don’t like about this puppy. It’s almost impossible to walk him in the urban area. Every-f**-one want’s to know what’s his name, his breed, how big will he grow … Ugh. And he makes things even worse. When he hears someone squealing, he wants to greet him …

And that’s why I prefer walking with him in the woods.
He’s quite an athlete. He enjoys walking and running uphill and downhill. And I even think he could easily be trained into a marathon runner’s companion.

But at the same time he doesn’t go crazy if we stay indoor all day, just relaxing and watching the telly. He simply enjoys watching the telly with us.

What a cutie I was thinking about getting a cavalier what advice do you have on them?

Cavalier is a great dog. He wants to sleep in our bed and cuddle all the time.

But spoiled cavalier can have huge problems staying alone (separation anxiety). You have to be a bit strict so you don’t spoil him. This is extremely hard because Cavalier is probably the most adorable dog breed around. He not only looks but also behaves like a true cavalier. He’s elegant, kind and very smart.
